Safdarjung Tomb

Outside Safdarjung airport in New Delhi, the tomb of Safdarjung was built by Nawab of Awadh for his father. He is one of the finest examples of architecture in India. The second Nawab of Awadh dynasty was known as Safdarjung. He was born as Muhammad Muqim in Khorasan province of Persia and migrated to India in 1722. To occupy the throne, he had to pay an amazing amount of money to Nadir Shah. Later gave Mughal emperor Muhammad Shah himself the title of Safdarjung. It was an effective administrator and handled administration of Awadh with great precision. Safdarjung provided valuable assistance to the weakened Muhammad Shah. Soon, he held an important place in the court of Delhi. When Ahmad Shah Bahadur ascended the throne of Delhi, Safdarjung became his Wazir ul-i-Mamalik Hindustan or Chief Minister in India.

                                           Safdarjang tomb built in memory of the memory of the Wazir and Hindustan. It is located in the center of a huge dome. There are four water canals leading to four buildings. One of the channels were incised decorated door, while the other three are pavilions, with living quarters built on the walls. Octagonal towers at the corners. There are four oblong tanks (channels) on both sides of the tomb.
