Old Delhi
Old Delhi
Old Delhi was once known as Shahjahanabad city. Shah Jahan was created and made it his capital.
This walled city has a long and interesting history and even today, remnants of
its glorious past can be seen in the form of Kashmiri Gate, Ajmer Gate, Turkman
Gate, Delhi Gate and Feroz Shah Kotla. The growing population in this area has
resulted in an extremely tight housing overlapping the small industries and
commercial activities in the region. Purani Dilli, capital of Muslim India, from
17 to 19 century, houses a number of forts, monuments and mosques.
